# What to Do After Activating Your Capital One Credit Card

> After activating your Capital One card, complete these important steps to secure your account, set up payments, and maximize your card benefits.

Activating your Capital One credit card is just the first step. Once your card is active, there are several important actions to take right away to protect your account, set up payments, and make the most of your card's features.

## Set Up Your PIN

If your card supports ATM cash advances or chip-and-PIN transactions, set up your PIN before you need it. You can create or update your PIN through your Capital One online account, by calling the number on the back of your card, or at select ATMs that offer PIN management options.

## Enroll in AutoPay

Avoid missed payments and late fees by enrolling in AutoPay as soon as your card is active. Sign in to your Capital One account, navigate to the **Payments** section, and select **AutoPay**. Choose whether to automatically pay the minimum payment, the full statement balance, or a custom fixed amount each month — then confirm your linked bank account.

## Add Your Card to a Digital Wallet

Add your Capital One card to Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay to make fast, secure contactless payments in stores and apps. Open your device's Wallet app and follow the prompts to add a new card. During setup, you may need to verify your card using your CVV and billing address.

## Review Your Credit Limit and APR

After activation, sign in to your account dashboard to review your assigned credit limit and Annual Percentage Rate (APR). Knowing your credit limit helps you maintain a healthy credit utilization ratio — aim to keep your balance below 30% of your available credit to support a positive credit score.

## Monitor Your Credit Score with CreditWise

Capital One's free CreditWise tool lets you monitor your TransUnion credit score and VantageScore at any time. Access CreditWise directly through your Capital One online account or the mobile app. Checking your score through CreditWise does not affect your credit score, and it is available even to non-Capital One customers.

## Sign Up for Eno, Your Capital One Assistant

Eno is Capital One's intelligent virtual assistant. Once your card is active, activate Eno to get real-time alerts about suspicious charges, generate virtual card numbers for safer online shopping, and get quick answers to account questions — all via text message or the Capital One browser extension.

<Tip>
  Sign the back of your physical card as soon as you activate it. Most merchants require a signature on the card for verification purposes.
